It’s hard to think of another brand that’s had as meteoric of a rise as Mansur Gavriel; the design duo’s bucket bags still inspire months-long waiting lists seasons after their debut, and the rest of the bags in the brand’s lineup sell pretty quickly, too. now that MG has a solid foothold in the consciousnesses of an army of bag lovers, the brand is expending carefully into new shapes, colors and leathers. I got to take a look at what’s next during the brand’s fall 2015 presentation yesterday morning.

From a shopping standpoint, the most notable additions to the line are two new bags and three new colors. A flap bag in two sizes and an everyday satchel called the lady Bag, also in two sizes, will join the buckets, backpacks and totes this fall, filling in some of the gaps in the brand’s lineup. In addition, consumers will also get a chance to buy the full range of bags in hunter green, medium pink and greige, and most fabrications of the two new bags will have interior twill linings and pockets, both of which are new for the brand.

In talking with the designers, I also learned that their silver saffiano bag exclusives with opening ceremony will continue for at least another season or two, even though many assumed the bags were a single-run limited edition when they first debuted. If you’re looking to add something metallic to your wardrobe, that’s happy news.

As for the new bags, they both feel like logical additions to the brand’s lineup and the kind of thing that Mansur Gavriel fans will be in to. The flap bag reminds me of the type of 70s-era leather bags that people trawl vintage stores hoping to find, and the lady Bags, with their multiple carry options, feel like strong contenders for women looking for discreet work bags. I’m not sure I love the length of the lady Bag’s top handle, aesthetically speaking, but it does seem quite functional.
