I have such a challenging time thinking of Lacoste as a fashion brand. These pictures of the Lacoste spring 2012 from Mercedes-Benz fashion Week new York clearly indicate that the company wants to continue to take advantage of its polo t-shirt popularity to relocation into something much more sophisticated and chic, which is an ambition I can appreciate.

This collection is as good a continuation of that ambition as you could expect, but it still felt a tad stunted to me. The color palette was limited and there was little print in a fashion atmosphere that’s currently embracing both, which feels like an opportunity that Lacoste left on the table. That’s not to say that there’s much to be gained in chasing trends just for the sake of chasing them, but a much more adventurous outing would serve the brand well in its bid to relocation beyond polo t-shirts in the consciousness of fashion customers. As it was, the few pieces that featured geometric patterns were a standout.

Today’s the first day of July, and summer’s hottest days are still in front of us. Drugstore products rarely feel as luxurious as their much more expensive counterparts, but this one passes every test–It’s extremely moisturizing and smells fantastic.

Karl Lagerfeld is, to put it lightly, an fascinating dude. two years ago, I asked you all what you thought of designer bags for children. You shared a wide array of comments, and the resounding theme in the responses was that you should get a designer bag for a kid when they are able to appreciate it. In my post, I shared that I wanted to get my goddaughter a bag, but I never did. Fast-forward two years, and I actually did buy her a bag, the yellow Gucci Disco Bag for kids above, that I am going to give to her when I see her in a few weeks, which brought me full circle on this topic.

I’ve seen a lot of photos of kids with designer bags, and I’m not talking tweens–I’m talking toddlers. mini Louis Vuitton speedy bags, tiny Chanels and petit Dior bags are being carried by young children whose parents are wealthy enough not to miss the cash. who am I to judge how people spend their money? I run a designer handbag site, after all.

What I did start to think more about is when you truly appreciate a bag. I’d like to think when I got my first bag, a coach bag, I appreciated it. but the truth is, as I keep getting older, I appreciate everything more and more. I didn’t appreciate the bags I was able to buy ten years ago, when we started PurseBlog.

So I want to ask you all again, because maybe your stance has changed or you didn’t see the article the first time: what do you think of designer bags for children?

It’s been a happiness to enjoy Victoria Beckham’s improvement into a reliable fashion maven, and even a lot more so to see her take such a keen interset in accessories. After all, what celebrity would make a better accessories designer than the lady with one of the most excellent Birkin collections in the world? Intimate and practical familiarity with the minutiae of Hermes certainly makes Beckham a a lot more qualified candidate than a lot of of the stars who would like it be in her (very tall) shoes.

As with Beckham’s previous accessories outings, her color story was limited; neutrals were punctuated right here and there with shots of brilliant orange, and those pieces were the remove standouts of the group. The shapes were a mix between previous hits and new ideas, but they were all somewhat standard purse concepts carried out in elegant ways. I’ll take the bright, citrusy tote, please.

This weekend’s obsession check outs the gentleman’s department. At around $170, Hermes’ stunning silk ties are a (relatively) low-cost entry into the world of men’s luxury fashion. The silk is among the finest available and the prints are highly colorful and come in funny and playful patterns.
