PurseBlog Beauty: 5 Body Oils to keep You Soft and Nice-Smelling in Perpetuity

Today’s the first day of July, and summer’s hottest days are still in front of us. That implies a lot of skin is going to get exposed to the severe light of day in the next two months, and there’s no reason to look like you just got taken out of your winter season mothballs. (Also, there’s no reason to feel like it–dry skin is itchy.)

I’ve talked about my constant battle against dry skin in the past, and my favorite way to stave off flakes during warm weather is with a scented body oil. Not only is the moisture payoff better than lotion of cream, but the warmth of your skin in the sun brings out the scent, which sticks around better than conventional perfumes. Below, check out five of my favorites.

Ahava dry Oil Body Mist
$40 through Nordstrom
Many oils have warm, musky scents, so if you choose something a little different, this is an optimal way to go. Plus, Ahava’s moisturizing products are all top-notch.

Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black Body Oil
$60 through Sephora
Body oils have become popular enough that there’s likely one that pairs with your favorite perfume; this one is mine.

L’Occitane Almond Soothing and Beautifying supple Skin Oil

Moroccanoil dry Body Oil

Drugstore products rarely feel as luxurious as their much more expensive counterparts, but this one passes every test–It’s extremely moisturizing and smells fantastic.

She’s Here! Introducing Millie Jean Dusil

meet the newest member of our family, Millie Jean Dusil, who arrived Monday, November 21st at 8:14pm. I’ve never felt so lots of emotions in such a short amount of time or a love like this. I know all of you who are mothers will understand me when I say how crazy the first week is. one day you are pregnant and the next minute you have your baby by your side and are adjusting to life as a parent and before you know it you are taking your little one home from the hospital. I was discharged from the healthcare facility on Thanksgiving day and made it home just in time for Thanksgiving dinner; talk about something to be thankful for!

I planned on sharing the arrival of our little one with you much sooner, but you know the saying “best laid plans”? Well, I can honestly say that my delivery did not go as planned, but that doesn’t change that it was one of the best days of my life. I learned early on my pregnancy that you just have to opt for the flow, and the a lot more I seemed to try to make plans, the a lot more our daughter and life laughed and said ‘not a chance’. If you’ve followed my other posts, you know that it took us a bit to get pregnant, then we moved to nyc to get away from Zika, and then wound up back in Florida. My pregnancy itself was relatively easy; a bit of morning sickness, low iron, but overall I had it easy.

Millie was due on November 20th but my doctor saw me the week before my due date and said it didn’t look like she planned to be on time. He’d allow me to go 7-10 days past my due date if everything looked ok, and up until that point everything did. I went in for my checkup last week Monday, a day past my due date, feeling no signs of labor at all. The doctor had me start with an ultrasound to check on the baby and in that room I knew something was off. Not extremely off, but something was different and I was anxious to hear.

Truth is I still wasn’t in labor, not dilated or effaced and baby girl was pretty delighted in my belly. The doctor came in to let me know the problem was my amniotic fluid levels were really low. It was time to make a plan, and the plan was get her out. After a few a lot more tests, the doctors agreed it was crucial that she arrive healthy and soon. having low amniotic fluid poses a risk to the baby as she can go into distress and it also can cause issues during a longer labor and delivery considering that the umbilical cord can compress and cut off supply to the baby as there isn’t enough fluid for the cord to ‘float’ in. We were sent across the street to check in to the healthcare facility and 3 hours later Millie Jean arrived by C-section.

I had never even considered a C-section as an option. I always knew I would be open to one if it came down to it, but I had some sort of vision in my head on how she’d arrive. I was actually still considering delivering her without drugs but in our birth classes they told us if you had an epidural to bring an iPad to enjoy motion pictures while you wait. Either way my vision of my labor and delivery never factored a C-section into play and because of the low amniotic fluid and the issues that can develop from that, the doctors all agreed a C-section was the way to go.

I know everyone’s experience is different. I’ve had a few surgeries in my life and I’ve handled all of them really well, so I figured this would be similar. I’ve had plenty of pals who’ve had C-sections and lots of said it wasn’t too bad but I had a really hard time. I had a odd reaction to the drugs I received for the surgery and after surgery the doctor had to give me different drugs to try to reverse the initial drugs. I remember being so upset because I had to be in recovery for a while as they tried to help me feel a bit better and I didn’t get to be with Millie. I didn’t plan on that, I always thought I’d get immediate skin to skin and bonding time with my baby. The pain post-surgery was also pretty intense, but it probably didn’t help that I kept refusing stronger painkillers and would only take Motrin. The first few days were really rough and am just starting to feel a bit a lot more human again.

What I can tell you is I would go through it all again and again and again to have our baby girl here and healthy. Millie arrived completely healthy and that is what mattered a lot of to us that she and I were ok. She’s been a really good baby, sleeps and eats well. somehow she has a head of hair, which baffles us both because I was bald until I was 2. I’ve been so lucky to have the help of my family and Vlad this first week as I’ve been recovering from the C-section and taking care of this little one. Vlad and I are so in love and we wanted to share the newest member of our family with you!

Karl Lagerfeld seems to have Endorsed the Fanny pack

Karl Lagerfeld is, to put it lightly, an fascinating dude. Not only does the Kaiser have a knack for the absolutely extravagant (as seen at Chanel, Fendi as well as beyond), however he seems to have a parallel appreciation for low culture as well; his styles commonly function inventive spins on the type of objects that routine people interact with everyday, recast as fashion pieces that are purposefully fantastical as well as ripe for discussion in the fashion press. Lagerfeld does the exact same at a much more available cost point in his eponymous contemporary line, where the inclusion of the Karl Lagerfeld printed Canvas Belt Bag shouldn’t feel all that shocking.

When I laid eyes on this bag, the preliminary surprise I felt was not that Lagerfeld had put his name (and indeed, his visage – the tonal print is Uncle Karl in profile) on a fanny pack, however instead that his autumn 2014 send-up of the American supermarket didn’t function one of the brand’s renowned flap bags repurposed as a belt bag. What bag is much more common of suburban superstore culture, after all, than that hands-free question of 80s tourism? perhaps that’s something we can look ahead (“look forward”) to in the next collection; for now, Lagerfeld superfans will have to work out for this bit bag. get with Net-a-Porter for $125.

PurseBlog Asks: What Do You think of designer Bags for Children?

two years ago, I asked you all what you thought of designer bags for children. You shared a wide array of comments, and the resounding theme in the responses was that you should get a designer bag for a kid when they are able to appreciate it. In my post, I shared that I wanted to get my goddaughter a bag, but I never did. Fast-forward two years, and I actually did buy her a bag, the yellow Gucci Disco Bag for kids above, that I am going to give to her when I see her in a few weeks, which brought me full circle on this topic.

I’ve seen a lot of photos of kids with designer bags, and I’m not talking tweens–I’m talking toddlers. mini Louis Vuitton speedy bags, tiny Chanels and petit Dior bags are being carried by young children whose parents are wealthy enough not to miss the cash. who am I to judge how people spend their money? I run a designer handbag site, after all.

What I did start to think more about is when you truly appreciate a bag. I’d like to think when I got my first bag, a coach bag, I appreciated it. but the truth is, as I keep getting older, I appreciate everything more and more. I didn’t appreciate the bags I was able to buy ten years ago, when we started PurseBlog.

So I want to ask you all again, because maybe your stance has changed or you didn’t see the article the first time: what do you think of designer bags for children?

Fashion Week Handbags: Victoria Beckham spring 2012

pictures by means of Vogue.com

It’s been a happiness to enjoy Victoria Beckham’s improvement into a reliable fashion maven, and even a lot more so to see her take such a keen interset in accessories. After all, what celebrity would make a better accessories designer than the lady with one of the most excellent Birkin collections in the world? Intimate and practical familiarity with the minutiae of Hermes certainly makes Beckham a a lot more qualified candidate than a lot of of the stars who would like it be in her (very tall) shoes.

As with Beckham’s previous accessories outings, her color story was limited; neutrals were punctuated right here and there with shots of brilliant orange, and those pieces were the remove standouts of the group. The shapes were a mix between previous hits and new ideas, but they were all somewhat standard purse concepts carried out in elegant ways. I’ll take the bright, citrusy tote, please.

Weekend Obsession: Hermes Silk ties

A horse is a horse, of course, of course…

This weekend’s obsession check outs the gentleman’s department. At around $170, Hermes’ stunning silk ties are a (relatively) low-cost entry into the world of men’s luxury fashion. The silk is among the finest available and the prints are highly colorful and come in funny and playful patterns.

They make terrific gifts for spouses or boyfriends for any occasion and are available in Hermes boutiques or online.

A Roundup of the Indie Bags I’m Loving ideal now

three months ago, when pandemic associated lockdown protocols were put into place, little brands anywhere took a big economic hit. unexpectedly lots of services discovered themselves close to collapse as well as ecosystems of artists, creators, as well as designers were having a hard time to make ends meet. It was then that I made a decision to switch gears as well as put my money towards supporting little indie brands while I still had some discretionary income.

I showed you a few of my favorites in the 10 Bag brands That requirement Your support round up back in March. now I’m back with a few tiny evaluations on a few of my preferred pieces so far, with the hope of introducing some new, awesome brands to the community, as well as supplying useful insight to make sure you discover the ideal one for you!

For each evaluation I tried to catch an general shot, a shot with my admittedly huge phone—an iphone XS Max—for size reference, as well as a close up detail shot of the material. Let’s go!

For the Ages – Ineva Baguette ($205)

This has been one of my go-to bags recently, as I like the pop of color it uses as well as its vintage vibe truly works with my wardrobe. The long manage sits easily on my carry without slipping as well as the body is normally lightweight. It likewise has a incredibly helpful magnetic closure.

Another plus for me is that this bag has no branding or logos on the outside, making it best for when I want something a bit a lot more subtle to total my look. The only reason this bag didn’t score a higher score is the material.

To be fair, the material is accountable for that fantastic “moire” impact that provides the bag such fascinating visual character, however it likewise is prone to snagging. In general I tend to steer away from material bags since of this issue, however I believed the bag was fairly priced as well as made a decision to take the risk.

This bag likewise is available in vegan leather with fantastic structures like embossed snakeskin as well as lizard which I would like to try in the future, however I believe eventually a authentic leather choice would truly make this bag for me. So far this is the only style this brand offers, however they are still extremely new as well as I am looking ahead to seeing this brand grow as well as broaden their options.

Panache – Croissant Bag ($145)

Gluten complimentary arm candy anyone? I like bread, as well as I likewise like bags, a match made in heaven! I was very first introduced to this brand when a buddy of mine bought a bit eco-friendly baguette bag with a baguette hand painted onto it. after that I began to comply with Panache on Instagram, eagerly awaiting a fresh batch of bags to find out of the oven.

Unfortunately for me, the very first time I attempted a purchase I took as well long to choose on a style as well as they all offered out. So if you’re thinking about adding one of these bags to your collection my finest recommendations is to act quick as they go quickly. now that I’ve secured my carb-less cutie we can talk details.

One thing to think about with this brand is that the bags are up-cycled, as well as may show indications of being pre-loved, however keeping that being stated my bag came without any visible indications of wear. one more thing to note is that not all the bags are leather, which is something I desire I paid a lot more interest to when purchasing. It’s likewise why I provided my specific bag less stars than I would have otherwise.

Another problem I have with my specific bag is that though the outside dimensions suggest that it must quickly hold my phone, the method the bag’s compartments as well as lining are stitched in makes it tough to quickly get it in as well as out with its situation on. in spite of these issues, I like this bag, as well as have even spoken with Panache about a possible custom-made piece in the near future. If you’re seeking to support a small, fairly priced, eco-friendly, service with a personal touch, look no further!

Amelie Pichard – infant Bag ($653)

This bag has been one of my preferred purchases this year. I’ve been a Pichard fangirl for a few years, as well as I lastly made a decision to invest in one of her bags. I selected the “Baby Bag” since it has the choice of both a crossbody as well as a top handle, which is crucial to me since though I generally hand hold my bags, I still requirement a hands complimentary choice when going about my day to day tasks.

I likewise like having the interwoven strap as an option, as it feels simple to gown up or tuck away when using it casually. She has a few different styles, all extremely thoughtfully designed; there’s genuinely something for everyone’s bring preference.

Additionally, she uses a range of colors, materials, as well as patterns to select from, I chosen the “eel” (usually it’s really hagfish) since of the special structure as well as unusual durability. So why not a 5 star? Well the bag is just barely as well little to in shape my phone with its situation on comfortably. If I get it at the ideal diagonal angle, I can get it in – though nothing else will fit.

Unfortunately this truly limits exactly how frequently I can wear the bag, particularly since I mainly wear gowns as well as skirts in the summertime as well as those tend to not have pockets. general I believe her pieces are fantastic quality, as well as at a affordable price-point. So if you are seeking to add something lively as well as special to your collection without costs thousands or sacrificing quality, absolutely look into Pichard.

Suryo – container of Raspberries ($154)

This bit bag is like nothing else in my collection, it’s sparkly, pearly, as well as lively all at once. The bag’s body is made of a metallic, raspberry colored, crochet with pastel pink pearls throughout. as well as it gets better, my preferred thing about this bag is that it has a matching pearl handle! A big plus is that the bag is lined as well as has a drawstring closure for additional security.

If I was score this bag on character alone, I would provide it five stars. though keeping that being stated there are some functional problems with this bag that make things a bit complicated. like a few of the other bags in this article, my phone does not completely in shape in this bag. The top of my phone peeks out of the bag’s opening, making the drawstring unusable. one more problem I have is with the size of the handle, as it’s just not large sufficient to in shape in the crook of my arm, so regrettably this bag has no hands-free option.

My last problem is the crochet element of this bag, which is a bit of a double edged sword. I like exactly how it makes this piece lightweight as well as provides these bags such special character, however at the exact same time I’ve discovered myself getting caught on things extremely easily. Thankfully the bag hasn’t been snagged or torn, however I do discover myself babying the bag when I wear it out. With all that being said, if you’re trying to find an daily workhorse then this is most likely not the bag you want. nevertheless if you’re craving a quirky bag that’s fun to style, at a affordable price, choose this one.

DLYP – Pleated Bender tiny ($499)

This brand came onto my radar last year, as I was drawn in to its rich utilize of structure as well as unique, untraditional shapes. Although this brand shares the exact same designers as Deadly Ponies, DLYP has a a lot more innovative vibe as well as experiments a lot more with their bag’s structures as well as materials. the most excellent thing about this brand is that they didn’t let cool, edgy styles get in the method of high quality as well as usability.

I bought the tiny Pleated Bender in Pewter Python as well as it has been one of my preferred bags to wear lately. The quality, particularly for the cost point, is truly impressive. The outside of the bag is made of a python embossed goatskin, which is one of my preferred leathers because of its hearty nature as well as charming sheen. They handled to recreate the structure of snakeskin by embossing bit scales that individually lift ever so somewhat as well as show light independently—like the scales of genuine python. The structure was so convincing I had to look at the bag up close to see that was undoubtedly the case.

The bag keeps its structure well as well as can be brought several ways. It includes a crossbody strap so you have a hands complimentary choice as well as the attachment loops are inside the bag, so if you want to utilize a strap of your own you quickly can. on that note, the bag itself is normally hardware-less, aside from the brass studs on the strap that don’t show on the outside. It has extremely bit branding, just a little gold foil warm stamp in the top left hand corner. The bag is lined; half in goat skin as well as half in alcantara (like a artificial suede), as well as it even features a developed in card holder.

It quickly fits my phone as well as the only problem I have is that I discover the strap truly tough to get on as well as off. whenever I attempt to put the crossbody strap back on, the stud provides me a great deal of resistance. It makes it truly difficult to just put the strap on as well as go when you’re in a hurry. This discourages me from wanting to take it off, even though that’s exactly how I wear it the least.

I believe I would like a clasp style attachment instead of the stud style fasteners, however keeping that being stated I do acknowledge that would up the bag’s cost point. These bags are solid, as well as I already have the Maxi Pleated Bender on my wishlist so this will not be my last DLYP bag!

If you would have any type of concerns on these bags feel complimentary to let me understand in the comments below!
